I am literally drained- emotionally and physically. I got next-to-no sleep last night...again. Kinda silly, I know, because today isn't supposed to be much more than a formality. Can't finalize yet because we're still waitin gon some fingerprint results. Today is mostly just going to be about making some changes in wording on some paperwork (changing "an effort has been made to locate possible extended biological family for adoption" to "a DILIGENT effort has been made to locate possible extended biological family for adoption."). And Cherokee Nation as well as DHS are supposed to indicate for the record that both agencies are recommending our family for the adoption. Other than that, I have no idea what to expect. And still I'm a nervous wreck- lol. Maybe it's because this will be the first court appearance since TPR was granted and the first time the sole purpose of the hearing is preparation for adoption. I don't know. The ONLY thing I do know for sure is that when it comes to the American Child Welfare System you can never take anything for granted; nothing! You can never got "too comfortable" with any situation. LMAO- no fear of THAT in my case, I can asure you. <sigh> I just want this to be over and done with. I want my little guy to have our last name and there to be no doubt that he will be forever ours. His CASA worker just dropped in unexpectedly; just wanted to say hello and see how we are all doing. He's a super nice man and very supportive of the adoption so I'm very happy he took the time to stop by this morning. And his presence today in the courtroom will be a great help in keeping me calm, I'm sure. Gonna go shower and start getting ready. I'm sure I'll arrive much too early and have to wait around outside the courtroom forever, but I know there's no way I'll be able to calm my nerves as 1pm draws nearer and nearer.....
