Omg did I read, lol! My parents wouldn't let us have video games, we didn't even have a COMPUTER until I was in middle school, we got cable when I was in high school..... So, yeah I'd say I read. I was such a 'dork' I even used to read the Bible and the dictonary for fun. My fave fictional character was acually Brian, from The Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. It's a good book, I'd still read it really.

BTW, no I'm not going to let my son play video games either. He'll hate me for it now, but seriously, when HE has a 8th grade 6th month reading comprehension level when HE'S in third grade, he'll be better for it!

Jun. 4, 2008 at 11:30 AM LOL, wow, that's insane! I feel you though, we had a computer but I was never allowed on it until I was like 18yo! Last year, Lonn bought me my own laptop and I'm always on it! I use it for everything: appointments, e-mail, printing out cards for people, photoshop, EVERYTHING!! My son is 5yo and, while he has two gameboys and an XBox, he's only allowed a certain amount of time on them per day and only after he completes his homework and reads at least two books. Again, he's only five and he's just learning to read so they're small, short books with huge words and he always reads with either me or Lonn.
