To all the women of cafemoms. I'd like to know what you'r thoughts and experience are with the IUD Mirena. I'd like to know because I have the IUD and I'm having second thoughts about having it. I've had mine a little over a year now and I thought I was pregnant, I had all the sighs. I talk to a doctor about this and all they did was scare me.. They told me that if they can't take out the IUD on time they would have to leave it in and that baby will be born with it attached. They seen 3 women this year happen to them?!?! Or you will just miscarried after you get the IUD taken out.. So there's a chance that I can have a baby and not to? I hate this.. To top it all off, I went to go get a test to see if I was pregnant. As I was checking out the cashier said " I need to get one of those myself." I told her it's hard to find out if you don't have a period because of you'r birth-control. Then she looked up at me and told me she got pregnant last year from the IUD and she miscarried and ALSO had a cyst on her ovary from the IUD... I left there feeling CRAZY!! So I came home and took the test and.... NEGATIVE... After hearing all of that I was hoping it said negative!

So, please let me know what you think and what you experienced with it!!! This will help me decide what I need to do for my self!! Thank so much guys!!!

Jun. 3, 2008 at 12:38 PM wow, I have had my Mirena for 2 yrs now...no problems thankfully.  I haven't heard anything like this before.  I am waiting on hubby to get snipped or I'd most likely not have mine.  I am finished having kids.  I trust my GYN totally or I would never used this method.  I'd consult your doctor to get the answers you're looking for.  Good luck.

Jun. 3, 2008 at 1:08 PM I have had the mirena for a year now and I love it.  I don't get a peroid anymore but I still get all the other symptoms of menstration.  I had ovarian cysts before and I have been cyst free.  Give it some more time.  Your body might just be off kilter right now.  C

Jun. 25, 2008 at 9:40 AM I've got the mirena and went through the EXACT same thing.  But when I went into the doctor they gave me an ultrasound and there was no baby, no cysts.  Perfectly healthy.  I think that some of those symptoms are side effects of the IUD.  And then again maybe it is something different.  They checked my thyroid and it came back fine.  Feel free to pm me and we can talk more.  I really would like to know how this turns out.
