http://www.biblegateway.com/quicksearch/?quicksearch=homosexuality&qs_version=9

A great majority of this came from the above site. This paper represents my beliefs. I want to be clear that this isn't posted to offend, but to inform. I do not judge or even dislike gays. My sil is gay. I just do not agree with the lifestyle based on my beliefs as a Christian.

ALL PEOPLE ARE CREATED EQUAL BUT NOT ALL IDEAS & BEHAVIORS ARE EQUAL!!!

Homosexuality is always discussed in the Bible as a SERIOUS sin. It is often discussed in the context of idolatry. Homosexuality was a capital offense in the Old Testament. The term “sodomy” comes from the story of Sodom and Gomorrah.

Are the laws of the Bible still relevant?

YES! Many argue that the laws of the Bible are outdated. That they don’t apply to modern society. Many reference the laws against Jews eating pork. This law was a civil or ceremonial law. The law against homosexuality, on the other hand, is a moral law. Moral laws are rooted in the nature of man. Many ceremonial laws were appealed in the New Testament (Acts 10:12-15, Colossians 2:11-16, Romans 14:17). The Bible is consistent on moral laws such as homosexuality, throughout!!

What did Jesus say?

The argument that Jesus never said homosexuality is a sin, is not a good one. Jesus never said rape, incest, or pedophilia is a sin but that doesn’t mean he wants us to commit these acts. He is very clear on the marital relationship in Matthew 19:4-5. Jesus changes people. He doesn’t leave them as he finds them. He turns sin around and sees that people give up their sinful ways if they will only ask.

God is a loving and forgiving God, but he is also a God of justice. He demands perfection (Matthew 5:48). He demands repentance of our sins. To mold God to our idea of him is idolatry-violation of the 2nd commandment. His wrath and judgment can be found in: Genesis 2:17; Kings 17:18; Psalm 74:1,79:5,90:11; Proverbs 10:16; Micah 7:9; Zephaniah 3:8; Matthew 5:29,7:13, 25:46; Romans 1:32, 2:8, 6:23; Acts 3:19; 1Corinthians 6:9; Galatians 6:7-8; Philippians 3:19; 2 Thessalonians 1:9; James 1:15; and Revelation 20:12-15.

SANCTITY OF MARRIAGE

Marriage is more than a matter of convenience for adults. It’s not just about the physical needs of two people. It is the “bedrock institution for culture to sustain itself through having and nurturing children”.

Common sense tells one that the best relationship to raise a child in is a marriage between a man and woman. This is a God given right, not a man made right. (Genesis 2:24) To marry gays is not up to men. To give these rights is to undermine God and hurt society (Matthew 19:6).

David Orland wrote “The Deceit of Gay Marriage”. In this article he states that heterosexual marriage was not given to us by man because the state wants to promote romantic love or even because the Bible says so. It is a natural relationship and essential to society’s reproduction.

BORN THAT WAY?

First look at the idea that there is an inherited gene. Three studies suggested this in the ‘90s but were scientifically discredited. Yes, SCIENTIFICALLY. A good question is which parent would this gene have been passed from? There is no answer for that question.

So where does it come from? Many counselors have credited it to loss of confidence in one’s manhood or womanhood. That there somewhere along the way was extremely detached parenting (especially if by the father) or someone else that had great influence on the person as a child.

Many gays are admitting that their lifestyle is a CHOICE. They no longer feel the need to lie and say they were born that way. A website
www.queerbychoice.com is dedicated to this. This choice does not have to be a life long one. It is possible to end it. Success rates range from 30-70%. Exodus International has success stories on it’s site.

My opinion has been for years that there are many sexual temptations in the world, but that doesn’t make it right to give in to the temptation. This article restated that for me!!

SO FAR….

Is homosexuality Biblical? NO

Is homosexuality genetic? NO

Beautiful and loving lifestyle??? NO

Startling statistics--wanna dispute them? Show your source!

http://www.faithfacts.org/christ-and-the-culture/gay-rights#marriage

Those practicing the gay lifestyle have a 20-30% shorter life expectancy.

25-33% of gay population is alcoholic.

Homosexuals are 16% more likely to molest a child (prob bc they were molested themselves)

Children raised by these couples are more likely to have gender role disruption, emotional turmoil, and social difficulties.

See the pamphlet: medical consequences of what homosexuals do

Gay marriage in the Netherlands

A 2003 study of the gay marriages in the Netherlands showed that a “steady” male relationship lasted .75 to 2.25 years. These steady relationships had an average of 8 casual partners in addition to the married partner. Of course adultery occurs in heterosexual marriages, but it is far more rampant in the gay lifestyle.

Our take as Christians

Christians do not hate gays! We hate the sin. We offer ways out….Exodus international, Homosexuals Anonymous, Pro-Family Index.

It hurts Christians to see people sin, no matter what the sin is. We want to bring as many people as possible into our Lord’s family.

Jun. 3, 2008 at 2:12 PM WOW!!! I find the last line of your post interesting. It seems to me if you want to bring others to Christ you're going about it in an interesting way. I'm not sure how you can bring people to see the the love of Christ when your post is so unloving. I am a Christian as well. I have been for the past 33 years. I see things a bit differently than you do. First of all... if you spent any time at all getting to know people who are gay, you would know that they are ridiculed on a daily basis for who they are. They are not given the basic rights that hetrosexuals take for granted. Marriage, health care for their partners, etc. There are people who are beaten, even murdered for who they are. What person would CHOOSE that? Second of all.... my husband is an Estate Planning attorney who does wills and trusts for people, some of whom are in homosexual relationships. One of those couples has been in a committed relationship since 1962! The year I was born. Not one of the homosexual couples he has done planning for has switched partners and live a promiscuous life style. It has been my experience that there are people who cheat and split up in homosexual and hetrosexual relationships. Neither group is more prone to cheat. I spent most of my life in a Baptist church hearing all of the hateful arguments. However, I have seen first hand how wrong those views are. I don't think you will see it until you get to know people for who they are instead of for what they are. If you have any time or interest, I would recommend you watch the DVD, "For the Bible Tells Me So." It goes through the Bible and every one of the typical arguments of the church. It also has several conservative Christian families who have children who come to the parents to tell them they are gay. It's an amazing documentary and I think every Christian should watch it. I would love it if you would watch it and then talk to me more about this subject.

Jun. 3, 2008 at 2:36 PM NOW THAT WAS VERY DEEP. AND I AM GLAD I READ THIS. GAY PEOPLE HAVE ALL KINDS OF WAYS TO EXPLAIN THERE BEHAVIOR BUT THIS POST SUMS UP ALOT. I AM NOT AGAINST THER LIFE CHOICE BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE ALL THE FACTS NOR THE ENERGY TO ARGUE. ALL I KNOW IS IT IS WRONG. POINT BLANK. I HAVE AGAY COUSIN WHO I AM VERY CLOSE TO BUT I DON'T LIKE TO KEEP COMPANT WITH HIM BECAUSE I DON'T LIKE TO BE AROUND SAME SEX PEOPLE KISSING AND CARRYING ON. I DON'T JUDGE HIM OR TELL HIM HOW I FEEL BECAUSE IT IS HIS CHOICE I JUST STAY AWAY FROM HIM. HE REALLY THINKS IT'S O.K AND I TOTALLY DISAGREE BUT WHAT CAN YOU DO PEOPLE MAKE THERE OWN CHOICES AND ONE THING FOR SURE WE ALL HAVE TO ANSWER TO GOD ONE DAY, AND ONLY HE CAN JUDGE. THANK YOU I WILL PAST THIS ON VERY GOOD POINTS AND RIGHT FROM THE BIBLE

Jun. 3, 2008 at 3:18 PM WOW, again!! I am amazed by the things you say. How can God demand perfection when no one but Him is perfect? He doesn't DEMAND repentance of our sins but he wants us to repent. The God you are describing is demanding and judgmental. God is a loving, generous, and caring God. If you look in the Bible, you will see that God never yells at or judges those who are socially or spiritually away from Him. He talks to them lovingly and in some cases, goes with them to their house. The people in the Bible that God yells at are the "religious" leaders who think they are holier than everyone else but their faith is just for show! I think a more effective way to bring people to Christ is to love and take care of them. I don't think it's our job to decide for God who is living their life as they should. That's His job! Our job is to love others as Christ loved us first.
