I have always loved to read.  My mom is an avid reader and she passed that love for books to me at an early age.  I was reading by the time I was four.  There is a funny story my parents always loved to tell about my toddler years.  Whenever we passed by the local book store I would ask for a book.  If they did not comply I would scream and cry.  Luckily, we lived in a small town and there was only one book store.  I don't really remember any favorite characters.  Well maybe Ramona, and the only reason I remember is because I just recently bought a Ramona book for my daughter.  I began buying books for Kathryn before she was born.  She has quite a collection.  Her happiest day in school was when she became a Reader Girl.  We recently visited a Scholastic Book Sale and spent quite a bit of money on books.  Kathryn was worse than me and came home with plenty of summer reading.  I am still an avid reader and have a nice summer reading list for myself.

Jun. 3, 2008 at 1:50 PM I bought the Ramona books for my little girl too! I found a bookstore in Tulsa that gives you money or credit for used books. I let her pick the books to take in and then she picks more used books to read. All we have to do is pay the sales tax! It is a great way to teach her to be frugal, yet enjoy what she loves.
