Genxmomma's Greatest Hits

Some crazy rambling crap I wrote...

As a child I read every book I could get my hands on.  I read the Ramona Quimby books, the Tales of a 4th Grade Nothing books (Fudge, Super Fudge), Sheila the Great, Hiedi and many others.  My favorites were Alice in Wonderland, anything by Maurice Sendak, A.A. Milne's Winnie the Pooh books, The OZ series by L. Frank Baum, all of the Laura Ingalls series, and the Anne of Green Gables series.

I most admired and wanted to be Alice or Dorothy.  I loved that they were adventurous, pretty, brave and smart, even if they didn't know they were smart.  Plus, they got to explore places that I could only read about.  I did wonder what it would have been like to be Laura.  Everyone in those books seemed so nice compared to the people in my town.  (Except for Nelly and Mrs. Olson of course.)

As I got older I read and loved many others- Where the Red Fern Grows, Bridge to Terabithia, Lord of the Flies, Flowers for Algernon, and many others.  The one thing that I never really liked was science fiction.  I did like fantasy but mostly fantasy with a female lead character.  I loved fiction and historical fiction.

I forgot The Wind and The Willows, and Amelia Bedelia!
