Did you read as a child? If so, did you have a favorite fictional character that you admired or wanted to be?

I read whatever I could get my hands on. I lived in a small town, so there wasn't much to do and so it made sense to stick my head in a book, especially during the summer.  I also enjoyed reading horror novels, Steven King being my favorite author when I was in that phase.  I also liked western novels.

I can't recall any fictional character that stands out as someone to be admired or wanted to be.  Though later on, I liked Tolkien and the Narnia books.

Jun. 9, 2008 at 8:28 PM My first memory of reading was the Dick and Jane stories and "Are You My Mother?".  I don't remember reading anything until "The Amityville Horror" was published.  I was hooked on horror. In college, I started reading fantasy/adventure.  I have a "bookshelf" at Shelfari.com if you are interested in sharing what we've read with each other.
