I call Orwell the town I grew up in. I lived there from the age of 10 until the day before my 18th birthday.  Yes that's only 8 years of my life, but it was my life from my last year of elementary school to my graduation day.  which to me is when I grew up.
I couldn't wait to move out of that town. I hated it. Small town where everyone knows everyone and all of their business.  Small town where you just felt like you'd be stuck and never be able to get out.
But after all these years ( I've been gone from there for 9 years) I realize it isn't near as bad as I once thought.  I live in a town even smaller now, but it's just not the same.  I miss being able to leave your doors unlocked, I miss everyone knowing who you are.
I love my life where I am now and don't plan to move back home, but I could do it

Jun. 3, 2008 at 3:30 PM I was born and raised in San Diego and always seem to find my way back here.  After I got married,  the navy sent us to FL for 2 years and then we came back to SD.  Hubby got a good job in Ventura, CA but after a year, we were back in San Diego.  I love it here, even though it's so damn expensive.
