Last Saturday  we went to my nephews birthday party, and there was a little girl at the park who was maybe 6 or 7, She was there from 9am-6pm and her mother only came and checked on her once in the entire day!!!!!  The little girl sort of joined the birthday party and they fed her cause she was hungary, she was all dirty.  When asked where her mother was she said she didnt know, and that her  mom leaves her there all the time.  A person at the party finally called the police after hours of the little girl being alone, the police officer came and talked to people at the party and to the little girl, as he was walking away with the little girl low and behold the mother came up and the cop questioned her and started being very sturn with her, because the mother was cussing and ranting and raving.  But low and behold she said she had been at the park all day near the cars and that the mother was homeless and was with a group of homeless people in the parking lot who were all drunk and on drugs and had been bugging everybody as they got out of there cars for food.  Low and behold the child was released to her mother right then, and the officer gave her a warning about leaving her child unattended.  My husband came late to the party and as he pulled up he noticed the homeless group of people.  As we were leaving the party and walking to the parking lot there was the little girl with this group of homeless people and her mother was no where to be found!!!!  My husband had a bunch of high end food in the car ( he does wine tours and his people didnt eat there extravagant lunch) so even though people from our party said not to give it to them and why plus they fed the little girl already, he gave them all the food he had in the trunk, which was about 150 dollars worth of food!!! The little girl then ran into the street and no one went after her to go find her mom and tell her that they had food, it looked like her mom was ummm doing something with somebody across the street , but I am not positive.  So my husband did a very positive thing that day even though the mother did not take care of her daughter as she should.

Jun. 3, 2008 at 4:36 PM The cops should have called social services immediatly and reported the situation. This is no way for a child to live. Kudos to your husband though for trying to help these people out.
