40-year-old pageant mom Bonnie Licciardello has spent six years at pageants with 7-year-old daughter Regan--competing in over 125 pageants!

Bonnie says Regan loves it and that pageants help her daughter be poised and articulate. Read our exclusive interview, look through pageant photos, and tell us what you think: cute or creepy?

Momlogic: What do you say to people who criticize you for over sexualizing and objectifying your daughter?

Bonnie: I ask them if they want to come to my house and watch videos of Regan. Now there are a lot of kids who are Regan's age... wearing Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader outfits. We don't do that... but for those other parents that do, it doesn't mean that it's wrong or right.

ML: But you can see why people might think wearing all that makeup and the swimsuits might be a little much...

Bonnie: A lot of people find fault in the makeup and the only thing I can say to that is that it's stage makeup...I admit it can be a little jarring sometimes... But then you get into the swing of things and start going to lots of pageants, and there are 400 in your age group, and your child is the only one without a wiglet or a spray tan and you know what, you're going to lose. So you really have to start doing it if you want to compete.

ML: Do you worry about her being targeted by predators?
Bonnie: She's never away from my side... if we can't do something with her, then we don't do it.

How do you feel about the pageant world?

Jun. 3, 2008 at 5:27 PM I think creepy, I think if they didn't put all the makeup, fake teeth, and the hair on these little girls it would be fine. But I saw something on this on the E channel and wow they do a lot to these little girls. If it were kept natural it would be fine. JMO

Jun. 3, 2008 at 5:30 PM i think it is a bit creepy and i'm sure there are lil girls who think the idea is neat and wanna do it at first but i don't think they really want to be a part of what it really is...i just think its sad that they cant compete and do pagents and not wear makeup and lil outfits that make them look like mini adults.

Jun. 11, 2008 at 7:44 PM I think its not for any of you to judge. Especially since you have no idea what your talking about. Her daughter is beautiful and if they like doing pageants then more power to them!!!!!

Jun. 11, 2008 at 7:50 PM I have mixed feelings on the issue,  as long as you don't push her its not that bad, however growing up striving to be the prettiest and the best is bound to effect her life in a negative way.  There is a direct correlation of eating disorders in parents who push their children.  I am not in any way saying you do that, but you can't deny that a lot of stage mothers do.

Jun. 19, 2008 at 10:49 PM The only thing "creepy" is you posting this. Regan truly enjoys what she does & is now featured in a commercial with Sally Field. Kids not wanting to do pageants all the time.....yeah, right, & there are some kids out there want a certain cereal (or any other thing or activity) all the time too. Every child is different & if she enjoys it, which she does, then who are you to judge?? Especially when you have no clue what you are talking about. There are pageants were you do not have to have the make-up, etc....they are called NATURAL pageants.
