This is a mini vent.  Not brought on by anyone in particular, just a general observation that has built up over the past few months.  I'm not pointing any fingers i promise.

Over the last year or so, i've had a lot of people ask me "how can i get into shape?" almost ALWAYS followed by "but i CAN'T run".

Now don't get me wrong, there are a million other ways to get into shape that don't involve running.  But CAN'T?  Is it really can't?  Or is it won't, or don't want to?  Is it because the first, second (hell, third , fourth, etc) time you get out there, it totally SUCKS, your lungs and legs burn, and you don't want to face that? Knees/back/ankles hurt?  Of course they do! what do you think happens when you don't use these things like they should be used!! Nothing good ever comes without hard work, people!!

I realize there are valid medical reasons why some people can not run.  Heck, due to my fetus, i can't do certain things either.   Now i'm probably being a hypocrite because i'm sure i've had some lame excuses for saying "CAN'T" in the past.   But think about it.  Those people you may look at and think "oh well running (or whatever, this can apply for many situations) just comes easy to them".  Guess what, it probably didn't at first.  I promise you that effortless look didn't come without a ton of dedication and hard work (and i promise it's still not really "effortless")

anyway, if you have always wanted to run and CAN'T () come up with a VALID excuse not to, here's an awesome article that was just published in this May's "Runner's World"

If you just absolutey flat out HATE to run, then say so.  Don't tell me you "can't".

p.s. i'm 20 weeks pregnant and i CAN run .  But i'm also very moody, hahaha.  That is all.

Ha! I love it!

I'm going to attempt 2 miles tonight (I've never gone farther than 1). I'm worried about overheating though....
