When drinking tap water, most of us are not exactly certain what is in it. There could be pollutants and toxins that are bad for our health. To rid of this worry, a lot of people resort to buying bottled water to drink instead of using the kitchen faucet for drinking water. Unfortunately, buying bottled water week over week can put a dent someone’s wallet. Plastic bottles are also not the best for the environment. To resolve high amounts of money used to purchase bottled water and the fact that tap water could have contaminants in it; companies have created countertop water filtration systems.

Today, with our focus on a greener society, many people recycle their plastic bottles; however, this is not the best way to help the environment because the bottles still need to be cleaned and remade into something else. All of these processes take energy. The best way to save the environment is to reduce and reuse. This is helpful because you are extending the use of the bottles.

To save money and the environment, the countertop water filter system is your best bet. You can save money by not having to buy bottled water every week or so. Instead, you can purchase washable as well as reusable water bottles for your family. With these bottles you can use a countertop water filtration system and have fresh clean water everyday. In the end this will save you money, energy, and time.

If you are interested in purchasing countertop water filters, you are sure to do it hassle-free. When deciding on which filter to buy, find one that fits you needs. If your tap water has an unpleasant taste, then buy a filter that will get rid of the contaminants that cause this. If you are unsure about the tap water in your home, contact a local municipality and they will help you, though it is pretty simple to know if your tap water could use a filter just by tasting it, smelling it, and looking at the color of the water.

Many of the countertop water filter systems today use two-stages in the process. These types of filters focus on getting rid of lead, contaminants, and parasites. It then uses a charcoal filter to get rid of any unpleasant taste. Two-stage water filters are best for water that has been proven to be safe to drink. If you want something a little different and much stronger, you can purchase one that uses reverse osmosis. These are for water sources that are extremely bad and need filtration every single day for a long period of time. This will make the water healthy enough to drink. Both of these filters are able to connect to the water faucet in your kitchen. Some can also be put under the sink, which hides them.

If you really want a deal, search for countertop water filtration systems on the Internet. Online you are able to search many different brands, models, and types. Many websites that offer countertop water filter systems have links that send the user to reviews of the product. Here people can look at what others who have tried the product have to say. If the reviews are good, the investment will more than likely be a good one, and vice versa. Shopping online is also a good idea because individuals are able to pay competitive prices for items such as countertop water filter systems. Numerous websites also offer free and fast shipping.

If you cannot purchase a water filter system online, you can visit a local water treatment company and rent one of their systems. Companies like this offer home installation services and filters that come with a monthly fee. Sometimes renting a system can be better than buying one of your own countertop water filter system.

Whichever way you choose to purchase a water filter system, they are amazing devices to have. If you want to save money and the environment, invest in one of these systems. You can have clean bottles of water that are healthy all from the faucet in your kitchen.

So true about bottled water and the environment! There's so much waste, just so much waste. Think about how much water actually goes into making those. Probably more than is in the bottle itself. And then there's all the plastic.

And it'd be a lot better for our budget not to buy bottled water, just to install something that'll turn our tap water into something much better and much safer. It wouldn't be much more expensive than the city water and of course it's so much cheaper than tap water.

I especially like that they can be fit under the sink and/or connect to the pipes itself.

I've heard a lot of good things about the reverse osmosis process. I remember some of that from high school science, though it's been a long long time. I was also reading about activated carbon last night, when I heard that it could be used to help people who've accidentally swallowed poison (I was trying to evaluate whether it was worth getting any for our house just in case). Apparently it's got a great way of soaking up toxins. So I'm sure it'd be perfect in a filter too.

I didn't know that it was possible to rent water filters. I have one friend who should really get one because our area's water isn't that great tasting (and I'm not convinced it's always safe). But she insists that she doesn't have the money. Maybe I can convince her that if she doesn't have the money up front it's probably worth paying the money for monthly. I wonder if she could work out some kind of installment rent-to-own plan too. We'll have to see.
