At first, I was nervous. Would he get lost in the huge school? Would he be able to carry his lunch tray without dropping it? Would he get sassy with the teacher, like he does with me? (I prayed not!)
Then I met the teacher. Her caring and nurturing ways put my fears to rest early on. She described herself to the kids as "Mother Hogue". She treated each child as they were her own. She communicated information home on a daily basis and a couple of times even called me at home.
With the end of the school year fast approaching, I was left scratching my head as to what to buy her. I wanted to send in an end of the year gift for her. Then it hit me. Have Slimey use the skills he learned from her. I had him sit down and write her a letter from the heart. He told me the words, and I told him how to spell. This is what he came up with....

I hopeknow Mother Hogue will treasure this more than some mug or trinket that could be bought by anyone, anywhere.
