An open letter to our government:

I am proud to be an American but am ashamed of what I still see and read about in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.  I know that I do not know of everything that has or has not gone on there.  I was always raised that we take care of our own and it has NOT happened in this disaster.  I know that we have offered many services to the people who want a free ride but I'm talking about the filth and devastation that is still there.  It just makes me really sad that we have not taken care of our own in a better and more efficient way.  I hate to ask this question, but if it true that New Orleans cannot never be a safe place to live again, why don't we move our fellow Americans out and give them a new start?

Can we have an explanation of what is going on and get this taken care of now!  We are the strongest nation in the world and our people should not have to live this way.  THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE!

I hope I am not speaking out of line this is just my opinion.

My hubby and I went there in March of this year and were disguested.  I wrote a journal on it.  I think that as Americans we should be ashamed..........

Tell me if I'm wrong but I don't remember any of the upcoming election candidates speaking out publicly on any plans they have for correcting the problem.  It's like is doesn't exist!

You are totally right-it doesnt exist.  We talked to bunches of people in the city and they felt that they were being ignored.
