Well, today is hotter than a $2 pistol and I have more strawberries than I can shake a stick at, so I have been picking quart after quart of strawberries to make more freezer jam, (okay 10 batches of jam so far but we love it) plus have an order to fill. After choring this morning, I started picking and only stopped just to grab a drink and bring berries in...maybe to check my groups for some strawberry recipes.
If more people knew how easy strawberries are to grow...I would be out of business!
Nothing smells better than a strawberry patch ripening in the hot sun, your mouth starts watering and you can't stop after picking a quart, because you see another big juicy berry and another. Before you realize you have picked 8 or 10 quarts! Those are my plans today, just to keep picking, already I have over 70 quarts picked and sold with at least that many more to go..my family is getting to the point where I have to figure out some new recipes with strawberries, because they are this close to strawberry overload : (
I look funny with bright red stained hands from all my picking in the early morning dew, but trying to beat the heat is worth it. The chickens get all the scraps from strawberry jam making and they love strawberry season as much as I do! So if you don't have anything to do today...go find a~ pick your own strawberry farm~ and see if you can stop at just one quart, your allowed to eat some as you go... helps with quality assurance!
Yum!
