I realized today, as I had a few questions about a flower I'm growing for the first time, that CafeMom is where I go before I go to Google. I knew while I was typing my post that I would be able to get the information that I was looking for instantly if I went to Google, but what I'm more interested in is what the real-life experience was like for the person sending me a reply. I realized that I don't want the textbook description of something, I want to know what it looks like in REAL life. If nobody has any advice I will eventually go to Google but I try to get it from here first, and I usually can. I will often do searches of journal posts because people post some great information on here. I think that getting information this way has also been an exercise in patience for me, because I am not getting instant results, sometimes I have to wait a couple of days before getting any information, but it's worth the wait. I've learned more about techniques that work for managing my son's behavior from the women in my spirited kids group than from my past year and a half experience working with young kids and reading all the books on our library shelf. So this is a shout-out to all the moms on here who share their wonderful knowledge with other moms, an old-fashioned but I really think the best way to share information.
