It was the best weekend!!! I almost cried bringing Dev back in this morning... And he wasn't all that happy either. We had labs done on Thu and then spent the day at the beach and the park. Dev loved every minute of it and cried when we made it back to the car. (He is a total beach boy)
Firday after labs and after his home nurse went home I took him to the movies for the first time to go see Kung Fu Panda and then we went for a walk through the tourist area in South Beach all the way down to the beach and back. He had a blast looking at all the crazyness/people and had plenty of music to bounce around to in his stroller.
Yesterday we went to the sea aquarium, the beach again, had dinner at TGI Fridays and watched all the crazyness pass by. (South Beach is a whole nother world) And made the hour walk all the way back to the car. When we got back to the RMH Dev passed out and I packed for our return here...
As soon as we got to the floor this morning they took a full set of labs, blood and urine cultures, chest x-ray, and an EKG to make sure he is still healthy enough for surgery tomorrow. So I guess its safe to say its still on... I'm nervous.
Dr. Kato stopped by around early lunch time to say "this is not guaranteed to work, but we can hope that it will as this is our last chance to keep from re-listing". He said nothing about what he and Dr. horslen and Reyes said last week when they met, but with how he came in today, I can guess that it could have gone better.
It is becoming very clear that they can't waiste too much more time. The wonderful TPN is starting to do its thing to Devs liver all over again. His eyes are starting to turn yellow again... His lab numbers aren't that bad yet, but it didn't take him that long to go from beginning stages of liver failure to final stages... And we are waiting or his CMV numbers to come back... I'm a little worried about that because he has spent a lot of time wanting to sleep the last two days and his labs showed that his WBC count is a little higher than normal for him. I'm watching every diaper for blood....
Here are this mornings labs...
bili's 2.8 and 2.0
AST and ALT 208 and 212
platelets 34
crit 29
WBC 4.8
