It seems to me that the election time in the USA brings out the ugliest nature in people. I have heard over and over again that you should never talk politics or religion in mixed company or in public. It's no wonder that has been said for I have seen it bring the worst out in people more during this election then the last 5 elections which I remember clearly. I have seen it bring out the ugly in my own family. I have had to currently ban my 15 year old from speaking politics with certain family members so as to keep things on cordial terms. It really is a sad state of affairs to have to come to this. I am shocked to see how different, in beliefs, that I have grown to be in my own family, the family that I was raised in. I know that they consider disowning me every time I speak my mind on politics and sadly, religion of late. It has tied together. According to my family, I evidently cannot be a good Christian if I voice support for certain candidates.
If I lined up every pro and con of each party, nay, each candidate and then decided, I would only be deciding on the very surface items that are there. Can one really know the heart of a candidate? Can the end, justify the means? It is a shot in the dark. We are taking them at face value but only time will tell if they were honest or just playing the game to win. I am going to guess that they were playing the game to win. I am going to have to go with the facts of what are true in a candidates past and sorry to say, my gut feeling on some of this is just going to have to stand. I have voted based on the status-quo before, I am ashamed to say. That is not an option in this election. Not for anyone. It is time to look past the war, past the budget, past the man, past the hype. It is time to look at the big picture and the facts. What things have the candidates already accomplished in their life? Who cares how old, how young, how healthy, how tan, or how to spell their names? It is irrelevant. What is relevant is where they have been casting their votes previous to their signing up to be the "Commander in Chief". Before they got here, what were they doing and what did they act upon? Those are the questions to ask.
Anyone can enthrall a crowd with the right amount of charisma but it doesn't make him the right choice. Look past the "wow" factor and go with your instincts based on research of the facts.
Happy Voting!
