Check your spelling when you comment (or post)

This isn’t a bash on anyone posting on my blogs, any of them, or really even a bash, just a suggestion.

If you are going to comment on a blog post, at least attempt to use correct spelling. It’s understandable not to have perfect conjugation of verbs or perfectly worded sentences, but spelling is crucial. Certain misspellings can completely change what you’re writing. If you’re commenting on a blog post, that means you’re posting online. That means there is a way to get to Google and double-check your spelling. Firefox has a built-in spell-checker, and I think you can get ones for the other browsers out there, easily.

 

If you want someone to take you seriously when you post, spelling is crucial. Random “teh” instead of “the” can be considered a mistake (I do it all the time, even when writing by hand now, :lol:), but constantly, or other words that are used commonly? It doesn’t make you look cool or anything. It makes you look ignorant. Notice I didn’t say stupid, I said ignorant.

STUPID

1 a: slow of mind : obtuse b: given to unintelligent decisions or acts : acting in an unintelligent or careless manner c: lacking intelligence or reason : brutish

IGNORANT

1 a: destitute of knowledge or education <an ignorant society>; also: lacking knowledge or comprehension of the thing specified b: resulting from or showing lack of knowledge or intelligence

So, to avoid looking ignorant, learn to spell!!
