What sad news today to hear of the passing of Tim Russert. He was such a big journalistic giant and he will be greatly missed. Let him now go write on his whiteboard in the sky.
My family religiously watched Meet the Press every Sunday and it will never be the same.
RIP Mr. Russert and my family's thoughts are with your wife and son!
If it's Sunday, It's Meet the Press! Politics and elections will never be the same!
Comments:
Tim Russert was a true American who kept our politicians on their toes. He is an American icon who will be dearly missed. He was an amazing journalist, intellect, father, husband, son and treasure of Americana. He was a living example of the American dream and he truly was thankful for having the forum and opportunities that he did. I think many of us considered him a friend even though we never met him.

I literally cried 4 times between Friday when the news broke and Wednesday during the memorial service. I just can't believe he's gone. His passing is very sad, and brings to light a larger problem in journalism today -- that jourmalism itself is becoming another victim of the Internet Era. Tim's colleagues -- David Gregory, Chris Matthews, Joe Scarborough, Keith Olbermann, Mika B. and others -- seem to be too concerned with getting the soundbyte and sharing their own opinion. They show their biases and don't have the listening ear that Tim did. They're pundits, not journalists.
I believe Andrea Mitchell is the only NBC personality qualified to even begin to fill Tim's shoes.
How sad. It makes me wonder what news will be like when Sam and Amber are older, and how different their lives will be if they're unable to get the truth like we are -- or, were.
