I wanted to share with everyone what had prompted me to cut my hair short. One night Anthony, one of the babies, was screaming for most of the night! He was so tired he would wake up screaming and flop around and then dose off like every 20 min. This went on all night. Well, about 8 am I was changing him and took off his pjs and saw that his little toe was huge, swollen and bright purple!!! I tried so hard to figure out why. It was so swollen you could barely see that there was hair wound so tight around his toe, it was cutting off his circulation. So I am trying to rip it all off while hubby is on the phone with the hospital. It was really hard to get to the hair because of the swelling.Got it all off and applied ice and gave him motrin.  It took 2 days for it to go back to normal.

I felt like such a loser. My hair has always been super long and this had never happened with the other kids! So I googled hair wrapped around baby toes! And oh my gosh this has happened to others! Sad, but it made me feel better! Anyway I vacuum everyday, but my hair is just everywhere! So I decided to cut it off!

Jun. 13, 2008 at 7:49 PM My neighbor lady came to my house in an utter panic one afternoon. SOMETHING is wrong with my baby's foot! Can you PLEASE help me??? So I went over there, saw that it was a hair wrapped around her little toe, and as you said, I could not get it off. She (mommy) was hysterical, I got my oldest boy who was 17 at the time to watch her 2 older kids, along with my 2 year old, and I drove her to the ER. She was just BEYOND consolable.! The nurse even told her that this was the 3rd baby in that WEEK, but she was having none of it. She went home, put a ponytail in her hair, and cut off 20 inches of gorgeous, curly brown hair. I took it and donated it to locks of love...

Jun. 13, 2008 at 7:50 PM This has happened to me too. I lose hair like crazy. I just keep it pulled in a ponytail all the time to try and avoid it. Sorry about your little ones toe. The worst is when I accidentally get my babies finger when I was trying to trim her nails. It bleed forever, she was screaming and I was crying. I felt so bad. I make my husband do it now cause he can see better than I can.

Jun. 13, 2008 at 7:55 PM you know sometimes it takes a little something like that to make a little change. i'm sorry that happened to your baby. you so frustrated then don't know what to do about things. it's not your fault. don't blame your self. there will always be something. you are a good mom to take so much to do something like that anyway. i would of done the same thing. babys are so angels to us. they are just a gift to us. we don't want to break , or harm them in anyway. you did  the right thing. you are not a losser. you are just a good mother to lovely twins.

i've heard of this happening to little boy's "boy parts".  It's crazy that a piece of hair can wrap that tightly and actually cause swelling and pain.  How strange.  And youre not a loser, that could happen to anyone. :)
