Well Anis is 16 months old & I was wondering if its too early to potty train. Shes tells me when shes pee pee & wants to take off her diaper & go sit on the toilet. She also tells me when she going to go poopy. Do you think that if I buy a lil potty for her that she might understand & try to go? Or is she too young? My two older kids got potty trained til almost 3!

Just an idea. PLease let me know whats your opinion on this.

Thanks!!!!

Jun. 14, 2008 at 6:59 AM I too was caught off gaurd by my dd.... my oldest 4 didn't even try till they were around 3yo...my dd just turned 20, but we have been potty training since she was 19 mon... I would say get her a potty chair and let her go at it!  Just a little advice that my ped gave me, with her being so young don't be surprised or make a big deal if she ever regresses, because when they are this young it is more of a PROCESS of learning then actual TRAINING.... hope this helped!

Jun. 14, 2008 at 7:06 AM I would buy the potty, but I would not push her to do it. Let her do it if she wants to. My cousin started her little one at 10 months b/c she seemed interested, but she pushed her. She's now 28 months and still is not potty trained. Can't hurt to get it for her. Ben is 19 months and he loves to sit on the potty without his diaper. He went pee the other day, but I'm not 100% sure he understood that it was in the potty, etc. etc. He does tell us if he needs a diaper, but not all the time. My oldest started at 18 months, but then regressed at 2 years old and didn't start again until 3. Gotta let them go at their own pace.

Jun. 14, 2008 at 8:15 AM YOu can try but also play games with her, teach her to dress and undress herself, know the concept of wet and dry , give her multiple tasks to do, all which leads to potty training. She may be in the early stages of it.
