Sarcasm! Well, is sarcasm actually a personality trait or a learned behavior? Perhaps bluntness would be the better answer. I tend to say what I'm thinking. Sometimes that comes out with sarcasm, but not always. It depends on the situation. When a woman almost hit my car by pulling out of the end of a parking lot row WITHOUT stopping at all, I noticed her handicap plate and out popped "What's your handicap, legal blindness??". That wasn't very nice. Funny, but not nice.
I'm very opinionated, too, and don't hesitate to share that. I'm not given to spouting uninformed rhetoric at people, I do actually educate myself on issues. Its just hard for me to ignore when someone else hasn't studied anything and just spouts "sound bytes" gleaned from the media.
I think it all goes hand in hand and the actual personality trait probably has one umbrella term for all these thing; sarcasm, bluntness, political "incorrectness"..... whatever it is, that's the one that gets me in the most trouble.
Over the years, I have learned that some people are more sensitive (in some cases, over sensitive) to what others say to them, regardless of the intention. Therefore, I have put more of an effort into installing and maintaining a filter between my brain and mouth. A mouth guard for keeping my foot out helps, too. ;)

Hey~ I need one of those mouth guards too! I am just the same way! And I agree, I think some folks over process what ppl say to them.... sometimes a spade is just a spade.... ;) Don't break it down into a million little pieces to make it something it doesn't need to be:)
