Have you ever gone to a party and there was someone else there in the same outfit or in the same pair of shoes? That sort of happened to me yesterday. I’m still recovering.

I repeatedly pay my AT&T cellular bill late, so they keep moving my upgrade date back. I’m not eligible for a new free phone until September. (Next month, they’ll probably move it to October.) I’ve owned two Sony Ericsson Z520a models. The Z520 and the Z525 are notorious for failed screens. My current Z520a screens failed months ago. After dealing with this for far too long, I finally got fed up and just took advantage of one of AT&T’s GoPhone deals. I got a $150.00 phone for $29.99. Go me!

Two days after ordering, my new phone arrived in the mail. Yes, I bought another Sony Ericsson. Stop rolling your eyes. Apparently, I either don’t know when to quit, am a glutton for punishment or both. I got a Z310a. It’s very similar to my other phone, but with some cooler features, and, get this, it’s pink! (I have no idea why – blame it on hormones - but I’m on a pink kick lately. It’s almost replaced green as my favorite color. I’m turning into such a girl in my age.) Even my non-girly ten-year-old daughter concedes that my new phone is pretty.

I charged the battery on my spiffy new bright metallic pick phone, put my old SIM into it, set it up, and was fairly tickled (pink (ha, ha – I’m such a dork)) with my cleverness and chic.

I headed off to do some grocery shopping, feeling pretty (in pink (someone make it stop)) and confident. I went to Winn-Dixie, because my favorite cashier, Amiga, had not yet seen my new baby girl, Bunny. After I got to the store, Amiga oohed and ahhed over Bunny. (All my people say Bunny looks just like her mother.) I proceeded to shop and then I headed to checkout at the self-checkout (I love self-checkout. More dorkiness or a chance to get the kids to help?)

To make a long story short (too late), as I was going though self-checkout, I spotted a lady talking on her cell phone, and it was a pink Z310a – my brand new spiffy, neat-o phone! Pride was instantly deflated, much like an untied balloon let loose.

I felt so unspecial, uncreative and completely non-unique. I felt like just another face in the crowd. I feel like such a dork even blogging about it, but then as this blog proves…

If that is as dorky as ya get...well, you would have nothing to fear.

Your blog was very funny..

We all have to learn to laugh at ourselves, and not sweat the small stuff.  Oh, not to deflate you even more, but I have the same phone, too.  heehee  And yes, it is pink.

From one dork to another...Rock on, Chickee!
