Five years ago...  My saturday nights were pretty much the same as any other night. I'd hang out at home with my son and my boyfriend, cook dinner, clean house, play with my boys, and do pretty much nothing exciting. When my son went to sleep, me and Dean would sometimes stay up late and watch a movie or something, but that was basically it.

About a year ago, me and Dean went through some rough times, we fell apart quite a bit. We're both rather young, and the stress of family life finally caught up to us, and we both buckled under the pressure. We didn't even know if we had anything in common anymore, because all we did was work, take care of the house, and raise our children. After several months of basically coexisting without actually being involved with each other, we decided that we needed to make time for us. Just because we're parents, and work too much, and have bills to pay, things to fix, kids to raise, and all that, doesn't mean we're not still a couple. We decided that we needed to start dating again, each other of course..

So now, my Saturday nights are wonderful. Both Dean and I have a lot of family here in town, so the boys get to spend the night at one of the grandparents/auns/cousins house and mommy an daddy get to go have grown up time. The boys look at it as a treat for them of course, don't all kids love spending time at gradma's?? So, it's a win win situation! It doesn't happen every weekend, but it's always at least twice a month.. It's amazing. We don't actually go out every time either. Sometimes we just sit home and snuggle and watch movies, other times we go out with some of our friends that don't have kids and can't understand how much of a treat it really is to go shoot pool with your boyfriend/girlfriend. We go to movies, or walks on the beach, or to one of the free concerts in the park that they do around here. It's never anything big or elaborate, but because I know how very close I came to losing the love of my life over not spending enough quality time together, my Saturday nights are very special to me.
