So my mom and I have started to make blankies, because today you can't find a quality blanket for the price your paying and if you happen to find a good one you pay for it! So you can settle for the cheap ones from Wal-Mart and Target and they fall apart or have no material in them or you can go with an expensive one from a boutique and spend $100 and still have no material. So, my mom has always made her babies blankets and they have lasted for what seems like forever! I still have mine and I believe a couple of my siblings have theirs. She has made everyone of her grandchildren one and they ALL love them! I had her make me like 5 and they all still look new after 2 years now of using them! They are bigger then what you can buy at Wal-Mart and the material is double sided and very well put together! The receiving blankets are made out of flannel and are 36x45, and the quilt is also flannel and has a ruffle and is filled with cotton filling and the dimensions are 54X45 which is crib size. And will definitely last them through the "blankie" years. They start at $11.99 and the fabric patterns are based on what is in the stores. We have some made up and can send pictures. Please email me at scharette150@yahoo.com if you have any questions or want to see pictures! Thanks for you interest!
These are pictures of ones that we have made before, we don't have this fabric anymore, but we can pretty much do whatever you want as long as the store has the color or fabric! The first is of the quilt and the last two are of the receiving blankets!

What a neat idea! When my son was born my mom, sister and Grandma all made blankies for him, on his dad's side, and from friends he got the store ones, and I have to say, the ones my family made has lasted nicely, when the ones from the store are starting to fall apart. I still have mine that my mom and grandma's made me! I think those are also more special cuz they can be more personal!

Hey Girl..great idea on the blankies..I was wondering if you have the means to make one that will do great with the summer months but is soft too..my son loves to have a blanket on him..but he gets so hot with the thinnest stuff..
he has recieving blankets but they seem to be too small and sometimes too hot..He has one of those furry one side and silky other side..but it seems to be too warm even on the silky side..
I know it sounds picky..but i am not trying to be..was just wondering..
thanks a lot..
