Lip Balm

I'm wondering if anyone else has had this happen.  I was getting ready for a play date with a friend at a park near our house.  Everyone was all sun tan lotioned up.  I was looking through my purse for my keys (it's a bottomless pit!) when I came across my softlips raspberry and green tea lip "protectant".  My lips were not dry at all, but the tube stated it is also an SPF 20 sunscreen.  So I put some on to protect my lips from the suns rays and went to the park.  I didn't think about that lip "protectant" again until i woke up the next morning.  my lips were dry, cracked and chapped!  It had to be from that lip stuff.  It is hot and humid here.  There is no way my lips became chapped from the weather.  I believe all those lip balm companies are scamming us.  I think all that stuff gives us some relief in the winter when we put it on our chapped lips, but that stuff also makes our lips more dry.  That way, we buy more lip balm.  My lips are still a little chapped today and it was Tuesday when I first used the stuff.  And I find myself mindlessly reaching for the lip balm to sooth my chapped lips!  I stop myself before putting it on, but it is programmed into my brain.  Without using that stuff, my lips are getting better -- proving you don't need that stuff to help your lips heal.  Maybe the stuff work in the winter to protect your lips from the drying wind and cold by putting a barrier between your lips and the wind/cold.  but I believe it also dries your lips out!  anyone else have this experience???

It is so funny to read this because I thought I was the only person who ends up having chapped and dry lips after I apply lip balm.  I don't use it anymore.  I put a little bit of Vaseline because the lip balms are definitley a scam.

I haven't noticed that happening with me, but I have been using a lip balm called Sun Shades and it is awesome.  It also has spf15 in it.  Another great thing about this stuff, is that it actually works on bug bites too!  I am a preferred customer with a wellness company and can give you the info if you want it!
