After 3 hours in mediation yesterday~my parents are officially divorced.
3 years & 3 months after my Dad filed.
WoW!
I couldn't be happier. NOW finally they can move on. It is done.
Divorce sucks~no matter how old you are. I think it's just as hard~only different~being older then if it happened when we were kids. It was no surprise. Really should have happened long ago. . . . . but it is done now. My Dad can now be.
He can have one less amount of stress eat at him.
My Dad is my hero. He is amazing. He is my Dad.
I hate the fact that his body is so much more aged then him.
Stress & aggrivation ate him alive from the inside.
Atleast now he can be at peace.

I agree, no matter what the age of the kids it still is difficult.  My hubs' mom and dad have been seperated since I came on the scene 9 years ago and his sister is still having a very very hard time with it - well, frankly I think my mil would have been able to get the divorce along time ago if it weren't for sil.   After soo long apart it just dosen't make sense to keep things going on for so long.

I'm glad that your family has some closure.   Heres a hug if you need one hun

I am glad its over for him. The stress of divorce is overwhelming but at least he has you, his solid daughter to comfort him when he's down.

Peace my friend...

I am glad for your Dad, especially that he has a wonderful daughter like you to help him find his youth. He may feel it has already passed him by. help him with that.

April, it is just a devastating thing whether you are young or older.  I am glad for both of you that things may finally get on some sort of even keel.  You are going to continue to be a grea support to him as he is going to be with you.  Now you both can rest a little better and start to heal.
