When camping, hiking, backpacking or traveling around in your RV it is important to be able to be assured that you and your family are getting clean water that is free of harmful substances. Even if you are looking at that fresh right off, the glacier stream the water may not be as crystal clean as it looks. Pollution especially that which is released into the air can travel hundreds even thousands of miles before the rain will wash it into the ground and the source water.

Even the freshest water in remote areas are potential breeding grounds for a variety of different parasites that come from animals within the area. These water borne disease causing bacteria and parasites can be in even the cleanest and swiftest moving water. This is why it is necessary to have some sort of filtration system and water purifier. There are several different types of water purifiers.

For example, the same type of water purifiers that are used in homes and boats can be used in RV's. These are usually electric and reverse osmosis but gravity based will also work in these situations. When hiking the best to use is the type of filter and water purifier that goes into water bottles. This makes it very convenient to carry and easy to fill. The great part is it can handle water purification of up to 160 refills, is easy to use and easy clean. It also means significantly less to carry. Many hikers end up having to carry several bottles of water just to make sure they are carrying enough to keep themselves hydrated and may run into the not knowing if the water available is clean or not. This is one of the biggest problems that hikers face when on the trail. Having a bottle sized water purification system is perfect for making sure you stay safe when it comes to water you can not be sure is safe.

When camping being able to make sure that the water you are cooking with and drinking is safe and clean is easily accomplished with the use of a portable water purification systems. Many of these are hand pumped reverse osmosis so it is not difficult to be easily have the clean fresh water that you need no matter where you are camping.

There are a number of different types of water filters and water purifiers depending on your needs. Many of these are easy to clean, the filter aspects are easy to replace. Most of the systems will have a few things in common. They will most likely contain activated carbon. This is used to remove the majority of the impurities. It does not however remove most viruses. Viruses are simply too small to be blocked by the 0.2 microns that is normally used as the finest grade pore on filtration systems.

The next aspect of making sure that you have safe and clean drinking water is the water purifier. The water purifier is designed to disinfect the water through either chemical means or through electrostatic methods. This will kill 99.99 to 100% of the bacteria and viruses that can make it through the water filtration system.

This means that you can be sure that your water is completely free of parasites, worms, and bacteria that can make you sick. There is also an added benefit to water purifiers, which is especially helpful in areas that involve hard water or water that involves a higher mineral content. The purification process removes most of the smell and taste from these types of water sources. This means that the water is not only clean but is also tastes great.

If you are camping or hiking or if you are simply traveling around in your RV having the knowledge that your water is safe no matter what type of source it is coming from. There are a variety of different options that can provide you with the safest type of water possible. If you are, camping and hiking consider hand pump or gravity based systems. There are also a number of bottle style systems that can be used on a more personal level with each individual managing their own water supply. Bottle systems work best for hiking while hand pump, gravity fed or even electric portable systems work best for camping. It is a good idea with these systems to carry around replacement parts for those parts that can be replaced.
