so ive been on a mission for a while to find the perfect tattoo to get in memory of my baby boy..

i think ive finally found it! i had thought about something angelic, wings, an image of his hand or foot.. all different ideas, but none that i truely loved and felt so strongly about.. but i was looking up something for my sis and i came across this meaning for a lotus flower...

Within Hinduism and Buddhism the lotus flower has become a symbol for awakening to the spiritual reality of life. The meaning varies slightly between the two religions of course but essentially both religious traditions place importance on the lotus flower.

In modern times the meaning of a lotus flower tattoo ties into it's religious symbolism and meaning. Most tattoo enthusiast feel that the a lotus tattoo represent life in general. As the lotus flower grows up from the mud into a object of great beauty people also grow and change into something more beautiful (hopefully!). So the symbol represent the struggle of life at its most basic form.

Lotus flower tattoos are also popular for people who have gone through a hard time and are now coming out of it. Like the flower they have been at the bottom in the muddy, yucky dirty bottom of the pond but have risen above this to display an object of beauty or al ife of beauty as the case might be. Thus a lotus flower tattoo or blossom can also represent a hard time in life that has been overcome.

i think that that is just so beautiful....but thats not it.. i then stumbled upon the cherry blossom.. not only is it beautiful,,but the meaning behind it is just so perfect to me.. and for my little bub...

The cherry blossom is the national flower of Japan where it holds tremendous significance. The significance of the cherry blossom is that of a symbol of peace and happiness and change. While this might seem like a somewhat simple view of what the cherry blossom represents there is also great depth on a humanistic level as it is a call for a change in the hearts of people. In other words, one should put away the darker side of human nature and become more accepting of the benign nature. Also, the blooming of the cherry blossom occurs during a brief and fleeting period of the season and, as such, there is also the underlying symbolism that life is short and one must make the most out of it, but there should also be special emphasis on living a life that is pure as opposed to using fleeting time for more selfish and aberrant purposes.

The cherry blossom was considered an especially beautiful and important symbol for Japanese samurai because at the height of its beauty it would inevitably fall to the ground to die. Samurai also had to be willing to sacrifice themselves in their prime, and the cherry blossom was evidence that this is the natural way of things and could even be beautiful and pure. Life is as delicate and light as the falling petals, and there is a natural time for all beautiful things to end. The samurai strove to understand the nature of life and death by meditating on the blossom of the cherry tree. This peace was tempered by the inner strength, power, and fighting spirit represented by the circle of red.

mom2i...
im going to get one after the twins are born to remember Seth, and i think its going to be an Orchid plant with two large flowers at the top, an unopened bud for Seth (he was my first born), and then a medium sized flower for Grady, a smaller one for Liam, and a pair of side by side little blossoms for the twins. It will just look like a stem of Orchids to anyone else but we'll know what the flowers are for :)
