I have heard of people using this as a way of self sleeping but the only time I tried it with my son I sat outside of his door crying.  Now youngest dd is still up at 10 at night and I need her to get back on to her usual routine.  Any suggestions that could help please!

Well, I'm sure that you'll get lots of moms detailing how to cry-it-out.  I just wanted to turn you on to some other ideas for sleep, that don't involve cry-it-out alone.

Jun. 24, 2008 at 11:37 PM In my opinion, the CIO method is cruel and heartless. If you feel in your heart that it's not right, then don't do it. Please don't be bullied into a parenting style you don't agree with.

Jun. 25, 2008 at 5:08 PM I don't have any idea. My 18 month old still will not sleep through the night.  CIO method I never even tried because she shares a room with her sisters and that isn't fair to them.  She goes down easy just doesn't stay down.  Is up by 2:00am everymorning, coming in our room.  Gets in bed with us and goes back to sleep.  So any idea info you get let me know.  I would love to be able to sleep through the night.

You don't have to let her CIO!!!  The first time I tried it my body hurt so bad - I thought God must have made me in such a way that I get this type of a reaction for a reason - B/C we're not supposed to let them CIO at a young age!  I tell you, the baby whisperer by tracy hogg helped me to teach my dd to go to sleep on her own - it was a life saver!  She's two now and we do our good night routine, and we tuck her to bed, say prayers and say good night!  No tears, and she falls asleep by her self and has been doing so since she was 9 m/o...she has been sleeping thru the night since 6 wks. old.  It can be done...I've got to warn you, you HAVE to be consistant, no matter how tired or exhausted you feel - if you can get thru a few days of trying her method then you'll have a happy child albe to go to sleep on her own!!  Best of wishes to you!

BTW, all these other books mentioned are good ones too!
