Well, the emotional lyrics of "I Hope You Dance" and the beautiful voice of Miss Lee Ann Womack almost did me in....not once, but twice, on the dance floor this evening at our son's high school prom. But I held it together (on the outside anyway), though my green eyes were a brighter green with unshed tears...and,coming off the dance floor,my daughter came to me with a smile, arms outstretched,to give me a hug and say "Oh,Mom"...

C. is our oldest child, our only son, and "my best boy"....don't you wish you could bottle up the love a mother has for her children, and send that magic potion out into this great, big, hurting world? Can anything be so pure?...

As the first chapter of your life comes to a close, son -another door opens to new and wonderful possibilities

I hope you dance.....

I hope you never lose your sense of wonder,
You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger,
May you never take one single breath for granted,
GOD forbid love ever leave you empty handed,
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean,
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens,
Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.

I hope you dance....I hope you dance.

I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance,
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Livin' might mean takin' chances but they're worth takin',
Lovin' might be a mistake but it's worth makin',
Don't let some hell bent heart leave you bitter,
When you come close to sellin' out reconsider,
Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.

I hope you dance....I hope you dance.
I hope you dance....I hope you dance.
(Time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along,
Tell me who wants to look back on their years and wonder where those years have gone.)

I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean,
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens,
Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.

Dance....I hope you dance.
I hope you dance....I hope you dance.
I hope you dance....I hope you dance..
(Time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along
Tell me who wants to look back on their years and wonder where those years have gone)

Jun. 28, 2008 at 9:54 AM Thank you for sharing this journal post with us. My youngest son Matthew graduated in May. My oldest graduated in 2005. It's amazing how fast life actually goes by...I have a granddaughter who is  2 and my  youngest is going to College in the fall. Wow! do you ever find yourself looking back through their old albums and holding their baby botties now bronzed on a plaque that reminds you of the very day they came to you?............. Wishing you and your family an album full of memories.....hugsTheresa
