Does a 3 y/o draw like this?? (w/PICS)

FEEL FREE TO VOTE POPULAR SO I CAN GET LOTS OF FEEDBACK (AND SHOW MY BABYS ART WORK,LOL!!) AND PLEASE BE HONEST, BUT NOT MEAN OR HARSH! LOL!!

 OK So maybe I just have my "mom goggles" on here, lol, but Does Mariah draw really good for a 3 year old?? One of her daddys friends was over the other day and his little girl is also 3, and they were drawing and that little girl just scribble in circles, and her dad was making a big deal about how good Mariah draws...Then a guy at Paul's (Mariahs dad) work seen a pic that Mariah drew and was surprised at it, he said his 4 y/o can't draw yet!

The reason I ask, is b/c like any mom I think my child is gifted anyways! LOL!! J/K!!! But on the serious side, Paul and his sisters are ALL REALLY good artists! Like they are REALLY talented, so I'm wondering did Mariah just get the gene?? LOL..

Be honest b/c I'd love to know how well she draws among other kids her age (she'll be 4 in Dec, but she has been drawing like this for sometime now, and quite frankly, I am running out of places to keep all ythese pics,lol...She'd rather draw than color in a coloring book)

This is her fish she painted a few months ago!! I was impressed! LOL

 

Mommy DID do the ruffles on the dress for her in this one,lol 

 

This is all the people holding hands she says,lol...

 

She did this about 4 or 5 months ago!

This is some type of animal, I think,lol

Jun. 26, 2008 at 1:14 PM They say that drawing like that in pictures is a sign of early/pre-reading skills. My DD did that too, and she's 5 now and can read chapter books.

I think she draws good for her age, my 5 year old nephew cannot really draw anything! he doesn't really get to practice due to the mother's lack of excitement in the home but that's awesome and you should definitely keep these and put the dates and her age on them! it will be neat to see how much of an artist she becomes within the next couple of years and beyond!

Jun. 26, 2008 at 1:16 PM I agree with Jakemmy. My girls drew like that when they were 3. My 2nd grader is at 4th grade reading and 3rd grade math. My 1st grader is at 3rd grade reading and 2nd grade math.

Jun. 26, 2008 at 5:53 PM Woohooo Mariah!!!  I have some of Mariah's artwork too, and I have the dates on them all! And I notice that in her drawings, she always makes her people smile...  am I a proud grandma or what, lol! And I'm proud of Mommy & Daddy, too!

MyMariah - some good books so that she can start phonics (my DD read these first)...Hop On Pop by Dr. Suess, Any Biscuit book, Dick and Jane. Yeah, I know, you might remember D&J from when you were a kid (I do, oops, sorry - dating myself). Anyway, they gradually work up her vocabulary. Also, if you have a son who is younger, don't be dissappointed if he isn't that visual or good at drawing. My DS who is almost 7 cannot draw 1/2 as good as his younger sister. He simply doesn't have interest, or patience for it.

Congrats - is she excelling in any other areas?  You might want to look the "Gifted Kids" group...

Wow I am impressed! Alexa isn't quite 3 yet but will be in about a month! But no she does not draw like that yet at all! She is a little artist!
