CINNAMON...IT'S NOT JUST FOR BREAKFAST ANYMORE

I'm not a stupid person, I'm really not.
But still....some things I just don't get.

Again - the things that seem to plague me in the wee hours of the morning...

OK.....
cinnamon rolls
cinnamon toast
cinnamon cake
cinnamon ice cream
We know what that tastes like right?

Cinnamon gum
Cinnamon mints
Cinnamon toothpicks
Uh...these don't taste the same.

Is cinnamon sweet, or is it hot?
What is the common denominator between Cinnabon bites and red hots?!?!
I wanna know.

So I looked...the Internet has all the answers. Thanks Al Gore!

Here is what i found out
Cinnamon was a princess, a long time ago, in a small hot country, where everything was very old.  Her eyes were pearls which gave her great....beauty...

Uh....
Sorry...I guess that was a DIFFERENT Cinnamon.

It comes from a bark, and there are 50 to 250 varieties, depending on which Botanists you talk to.
I think we all can remember at least once being at a bar where some huge rumble breaks out between 2 botanists.  They are CRAZY man.  It usually goes like this...
"250 species?? are you insane? You are as intelligent as a Quercus Alnifolia!"
"Oh yeah?? well bite me you paleondemic a#*!"

Then hit the floor and make for the door.  Botanist just don't play man...they just don't.

Anyway...Cinnamon.  It is officially described as having a smell that is sweet and a taste that is aromatic.  Uh...again..HUH??  It sounds like they are saying it smells like a taste and taste like a smell.  I guess its texture is visual and it looks like touch?

Still nothing on the sweet vs. hot dilemma.

But, I think Cinnamon may be the next wonder plant.  Forget aloe, forget st. john's wort, echinacea...on and on.
It's cinnamon again.

Cinnamon can lower your blood sugar, cholesterol, triglycerides by 20 per cent.  Next time your boyfriend or girlfriend is with you when you stop at the Cinnabon shop at the food court, and they give you that OH so cute pat on your belly and say "honey do we really need this?"  Tell them you are working on your triglycerides and you are doing it  "for us".

Chewing powdered cinnamon can help fight cold feet, nausea, diarrhea, flatulence.  Interesting.  (Hey Mike....if you are reading this, remind me... next time your friend FRED tries to get married, Perhaps you two should  have some cinnamon lying around. It's probably easier than climbing out that church bathroom window and driving out of the church parking lot.  Then again, having to go BACK into the church to find Angie's father and only to ask him to move his car because he blocked you in, well it probably wasn't great strategy.  I know you were thinking "My bad man!"
-Sorry, that was for my friend Mike.  He was the Best Man @ Fred's Wedding).

Cinnamon was also a favorite spice in ancient Egypt for burials.  It was a preservative and it smelled nice.  I need an ancient Egyptian scholar.  I want to know if this only works for dead people.  Because if it's good on the living, I think every public bus should have a constant supply that you have to put in your pockets before sitting down.  In fact stuff all the seats with powdered cinnamon.  Make those hand straps out of cinnamon bark.
Hell...call Willy Wonka and make a Cinnabus if you have to.

Yet another site tells me that Cinnamon is known for its natural cinnamon like taste.  Thanks for THAT help Einstein.  Ahhh, yet another says its noted for its hot aromatic flavor.  Again with the aromatic flavor...but they did say hot.   Yet they go on to say the origin for the name Cinnamon is "sweet wood"

Holy Red Hots and Big Red Chewing gum
What in the heck is the answer?!?!?!

Well another toss and turn night, with visions of Cinnabon dancing in my head...  It's no Ebony Love Urn, but it'll have to do... I'm thinking the two go hand in hand personally - Sprinkle a little Cinnamon in with the ashes :)  Keeps them smelling "Hot and Sweet" ?!?!?!

Well, I've taken a Tylenol PM which will either put me to sleep or heighten my writing experience.  Hopefully it's good night Springfield.
Until Next Time....
