You have a terrific writing style. Succinct and entertaining. I love the way you proposed and then shot down objections to you thesis. You should be very proud!

Deyla...

Very impressive!!

As an aspiring writer, that was a great read, and something I think young female writers should certainly see.

Kudos!

Ellen--Maureen Dowd is the only op ed columinist.  I wrote for the Times and knew if If I didn't want to cover the Pillsbury bakeoff I better make my name unisex.  So I came up with a nickname that was not either male or female.  If you just put your initials they knew you were a female in hiding despite s.j. perleman etc.

Sexism doesn't shock me---it just disgusts me in the arts as elsewhere.  Women can't  get screenplays published as the same rate as men.

Hollywood and the theatre makes book writing look like an equal opportunity area.  Let's crash that glasss ceiling.  One two three --let'smalll jump together and carry a big stick!!!!

P.S.  Let's not even talk about older women.  Put a few extra pounds on that older woman and she is dead to the world.  Don't let the Oprah Star Jones syndrome fool you.  African americans sure get more than their share of horrible treatment but as a culture at least the way I perceive it they like many people from diverse backgrounds don't have to look like Barbie dolls.  Women do...even tho Barbie was invented unpteen years ago..And feminists are ashamed of being feminists...Pity those of us with daughters
