Well, yesterday we had a pretty good day. We took the girls to see a matinee movie. We saw the new Disney Pixar's new Wall-E. It was about robots. Macy was all about it. She loved it! Abilene, not so much at first, but then warmed up to it. She liked the intros and most of the movie, but got restless towards the end. After the movie, we came home and the girls napped or had some quiet time before we headed out the door again to go have an early dinner with my mom. The girls were amazingly good the whole day. I was really proud of them.
When we got home last night at about 8pm, we set up the sprinkler in the front yard before heding inside. My DH unlocked and opened the front door and my little girl (who was leaning against it) fell down into the entryway. She didnt cry or anything and continued to play for another 30 minutes before we put her to bed. About an hour later, she started wimpering and complaining that her arm hurt. I noticed she wasnt using it. She wouldnt turn the pages of a book as I tried to read to her. She wouldnt take a toy if I handed it to her. She cried when we moved it. So.... we headed off to the ER.
We get to this brand new hospital and get taken in right away. Only to wait 2 hours before we even got to see the doctor. In the meantime, she layed on a bed and I read to her. The TV in the room didnt have a working remote, so we didnt get to watch anything that could have helped entertain her. But she was so good. She didnt cry much and seemed to understand that the doctors and nurses were going to make her feel better. There was a lot of other people there and only 1 doctor so thats why it took so long.
Right before the doctor came in, a nurse brought her a book and a wand (with water and star glitter inside). She started playing with that and within a few minutes was back to her normal self. She was moving her arm again and was playing and not complaining of pain. I was so relieved! I had been petrified of the idea of having to hold her while a doctor popped her elbow back in socket so the fact that she was looking all better was such a huge relief to me! When the doctor came in, she said that most likely she had what they call a Nursemaid's Elbow where the bone pops out from under the ligament that normally holds it into place. It's not techincally a dislocated elbow, but can happen to little kids easily.
Anyway, after not even having an x-ray done, and a $100 bill, we got to go home. It was 2am when I plopped Abilene into bed and prayed she would sleep in. -lol- Unfortunately she didnt. Daddy got up with her at 8:30am and let me sleep. (Aww! Wasnt that sweet?! Id say so for my DH because he's usually not the thoughtful type.)
And today Abilene is playing and is back to her normal self today except for me constantly telling her to be careful.
