Gosh...I find that I don't come on here as much as I like but I am finding a minute to post a little something. I am supposed to be writing a paper for a summer class that I am taking on Themes in. Contemporary Art. So, I need to make it quick!

I am still going to school. It was a very frustrating spring semester. I was ready to tear my hair out by the end of it and was demanding that I was not going back. Obviously, I made it through it because I am now taking two summer classes. Plant biology (I didn't have the exact science classes that SIU required) and the art history one. I was overwhelmed at first by the intensity of a summer class coinciding with my family life but I am in the groove now. It's not so bad. No one in my family has been to college. I have been working on this degree for ummm....10 years now (sounds embarrassing!). I will finally graduate next spring!

Maia went back to public school this spring semester as well. She has been so depressed/angry(?) with this last move. But then she also just turned 12 and hormonal...who knows. I had hoped that by going back to school that she could meet some friends and be happier. She really has a hard time with this. She did make a couple of friends but wants to stay home next year and I agree because really, the junior high here has nothing to offer a gifted student except for an advanced math course. I am just going to have to force myself to get more involved with the local Christian/Conservative homeschool group in hopes to meet friends for the kids. Maybe they are not all so conservative as it seems. I have in the past put together Maia's curriculum myself but am going to buy the package deal from Oak Meadow to alleviate some pressure from me.

My husband, who is in the Coast Guard, ranked #3 on the advancement test and will most likely (as we haven't heard what the cut is yet) make E-7 next year! I am really happy about that. We can always use the extra money...especially with what the cost of gas is now! It's $4.05/gal here now in S. Illinois and we have to drive a lot back and forth to school.

Well, I guess that I should stop procrastinating and get back to that school work! I hope that you all are well and having a great summer!

Congrats on finishing up Spring Semester and on your husband soon to be making E-7.  My hubby is getting ready to make rank which means we may be finally moving out of NY! (yay)

Best wishes for a wonderful summer!

I haven't been around here much, lately, either (as you can see - I'm reading this 5 months after you wrote it : )

I think it's even more commendable that after 10 years you have not given up on your degree!  I just don't know that I would have it in me so much respect to you.

I've been observing the home schooling boards (considering it for Izzy) and it seems like there are some families that resort to the christian home schooling groups just because there isn't an alternative so you might find some like minded folks in your local one (maybe you've checked them out by now?  It has been 5 months since you wrote this : )

Goodness...your girls are getting so big and more and more lovely!
