I think 4th of July ranks right up there with Christmas for our oldest, Collin (6yrs).  He just could not go to sleep last night.  He parked himself in his bean back chair in front of his window, watching our nieghbors behind us.  Mostly he could hear them but once in a while catch a view of one in the air.  Well, he was up until 945p and so disappointed when he came to me so say:  Well, I think they're over.  I just couldn't resist,  he was up so I told him to hit the bathroom and come with me, we'd find more fireworks.

We live in a neighborhood where the local Freedom Festival is held.  We used to be able to view the fireworks show from our back deck, then we had to move to the yard but now the trees are too grown up.  We headed out front with our lawn chair, and yes,  in our jammies, and found that by sitting just in the street, behind a parked car, we were safe and had a GREAT view of the fireworks.  He was loving every minute of it!   It was an enjoyable show.  It's been a long time since I've seen it as well since it's on Sunday nights, I am a FTWM and my kids have to get up for daycare so we don't keep them up to 10p.  The little ones and DH were sleeping but Collin and I had a special evening, just the two of us, watching fireworks.

He can hardly wait for Friday, the REAL 4th of July and is quite anxious to hit the fireworks store with Daddy.  I got my time last night.  I'll probably be inside now for the rest of the firework happening as Zachary gets extremely upset with the loud noises.  He's ok if we're in the care driving and see fireworks because he then can't hear them.  I hope he grows out of that!
