The question on the homepage today asked us moms if SAHM's deserve a holiday because we have the toughest job in the world.
First of all, all moms have the toughest job in the world. We have to go through pregnancy, labor, the toddler years, and later the teen years. We have to find a way to give our family all the love and emotional support that they need while occassionally finding time for ourselves.
Secondly, working mommas work hard too. Just because they are outside of the home doesn't mean that they aren't working hard. They have the added pain that they have to say goodbye to their kids every day while they go to work.
Thirdly, why do we want a holiday? We have mother's day and wouldn't you prefer to be celebrated EVERYDAY? We don't need a holiday to "prove" or celebrate how hard we work. WE have everyday to to do that if we choose to. We can celebrate in the picture our toddler drew for us, the fact that our infant slept for 5 straight hours, or that our preteen cleaned their room without asking.
We don't need a holiday. We need to continue to raise children who respect us and realize what great moms they have everday.
