I left him 2 houses and all his accounts. He was living in the primary residence and had let the rental go to foreclosure when he decided to take me to court. Apparently he thought a judge would make me pay half of the house he possessed and where he resided. He ended up with this decision...
NOW, I get served with this over the weekend...
So, in other words, the mortgage has been paid in full on a house he has abandoned. It was paid because they froze his accounts and took the $$ - yes, he keeps that much laying around in his checking account, lol! So now all I have to do is wait and see or just go ahead and make him pay the taxes, then sell the house with the sheriff's help.... AND at this point the house has been condemned but may still be structurally sound, just not up to code. Hilarious! He pays $56K last year, another $20K now, and then I can make him sell it for a song and he STILL has to split that with me!
The punch line??
When I moved out I told him to go do a refinance on either or both houses and I'd sign anything to get them both in his name, his mortgage, etc. I just wanted to be free and clear but was never looking to make a dime off either.
Yes, I am truly ashamed to say I married someone this stupid!

I have many of the same "type" of issues. I firmly believe that it's laziness and irresponsibility, because there was some intelligence early on in these men when we intelligent women decided to originally marry them!!! Cindy :)

About 2 weeks after we split I had to sit down with him and explain how much he made, what bills he had, what he could afford, and what accounts he had.... needless to say, we've had a few "cha-ching" moments since. Like the $500 cert. of deposit he left sitting around in both names for 6 months - so I finally went and closed it! Then, when he abandoned the house 3 years after we split (the one he'd been living in) I went in the garage and found a statement from e*trade showing joint accounts. IN THE GARAGE, laying around! It was still active and joint. Cha-ching, another $1300! THEN, he bought himself a new truck, leaving the old one with our mechanic (VERY trustworthy!) to sell for him. Well, it sells for $4500.... BUT our mechanic STILL has the check in his hand, bright boy never went to pick it up! Of course it's a couple years old and a dead check now...
It's maddening, I tell ya!
LOL that is funny. Here's another, my ex decided to take me back to court to reduce child support based on erronious facts. The judge decided that if the oldest child is living with him he can reduce but if the child lives with me it goes up. Two days before the final judgement was ordered child said nope sorry dad want to live with mom. In a paragraph in the order it says "the request of the Petitioner (my es) to modify child support shall be granted". LMAO he's eating crow and isnt' loving it go figure. Now he's trying to go through the Catholic church (he still is I'm no longer) to annull the marriage in the church based on "we always had power struggles". But won't admit he remarried outside the church nor the fact he takes communion regularly. But thinks the Church will turn a blind eye. Not on your life.
Ex husbands are wonderful free entertainment and definitely comic relief at the end of a long day bustin your tush making the bills and raising the kids.
