A few years ago I made a mistake by stealing money from Home Depot. I got caught, never denied it, and dealt with the consequences I was given. I am still trying to figure out what provoked me to steal the money several times over the course of the few months I worked there. Needless to say I now don't take any jobs that have to deal with any sort of money. I chose it to be that way as I don't want to be tempted to do it again. So a few months after everything settled down I got a housekeeping job. Didn't have to deal with money and the housekeepers worked in pairs, so I figured it was a great time to make a fresh break. Well I was never asked if I had a felony and didn't volunteer the information. I have when asked if I had a felony been honest and let the people know what happen and what I did to make my mistake better. So anyways the place where I was working had money stolen on a day I wasn't even working but because when they did a background check I hadn't told them I had a felony. They fired me, called both other places I was working and got me fired from their too. So I went from 3 part-time jobs and surviving to no jobs and on wlefare becaus I was separated from my husband at the time. I feel I was treated unfairly and the investigation should have continued and not stopped because of my past background.
I totally believe in second chances, do you?
