Alcohol Intervention Help

I think I've waited too long, but I need help.  My dad needs to find a program - BAD.  I just don't know which one to go with.  How bad????  drinks 12-24 cans of beer - warm (Iowa outside summer warm) a DAY, his anger is horrible, lashing out at everyone and everything, even because the sky is blue sometimes (well almost)....  We are to the point that we're beyond being worried about him, but we worry about how his alcohol induced stupidity is going hurt someone else, drunk driving - fighting....  He FINALLY at 47 got his first OWI, 'legal' limit is .08 he blew a .162.......  Can anyone offer advice???  I'm sure that my parents marriage is done for, but I would like to have him 'live' or at least live for a little while...He has 4 grandkids that yes I still think should get to know him during their lifetime.

I came over to thank you for your comment on the puppies and tell ya that we are so much alike (from reading your personal statement).. other then that my mother uprooted me and moved me to Vegas in 89... I am still a country girl at heart...

Then I read this blog.. and I have chills all over my body... You've described my biological father to a T... However, mine has gotten 4 DWI's already, and when I asked him a few weeks ago while he bitched about all the money he is dishing out in courts fees, "have you learned your lesson yet?" his reply was "nope, this is how I have always been, and I will always be... " and I had to hang up with him... I've spent 20 years of my life beggin him to change... I got into a car accident with a drunk driver that has left me with neck problems for the rest of my life on top of original back problems that got worse.. I sent him pictures of his grandchildren cut up, bruised up and so on.. and it did NOTHING!!!

All you can do is Pray... There is so much power in prayer...

There are programs, however, they are voluntary.. He can walk away at any time... The only other suggestion I have is try calling that intervention program that airs on A&E... See if they will help..
