The Dolphins in the River (pic heavy)

If you are from the surrounding area, I am sure you have heard about those poor dolphins that have lost their way. They are "stuck" in the Shrewsbury River and really, based on what I saw today, they don't look in a hurry to leave!

Christy (Melantava on CM) and I took the kids down to see them. We didn't have a "plan", but we were going to find the dolphins. We were driving down Route 36 in Sea Bright wondering if we were going to find them, when we came across the News Channel 4 van in the parking lot. Christy turned into said parking lot on 2 wheels!! LOL!

We parked the car and ran with the kids to the water. And there they were.. the whole lot of them! It was a beautiful sight to see.

 

 

The kids were so excited to see them. We quickly made the rules about standing too close to the edge!! This definately made their day! The boys were jumping out of their skins. Melissa (who is a very cool 2nd grader) was a little more subdude about it. LOL! However, Melissa was waiting for them to perform like the dolphins she saw ans swam with in the Bahamas! Ava was just trying to find them!!

The State Police boat came in to try and control the boat traffic that was there. They were announcing over the loud speaker to stay at least 50 feet away from them. There was also a news crew on board filming them.

We had lunch at the restarant that was right there and got to eat and enjoy them some more!

They are beautiful creatures and it is a treat here in Jersey to see them up close and personal. They were saying on the news tonight that they are hoping they find their way back to the ocean before this weekend. Everyone is really nervous with all of the boats that will be in the water on July 4th. We are all keeping our fingers crossed!!

We ended the day with some really yummy ice cream from Tasty Delight! I am so glad that we made the trip down there to see them. Thanks Christy and gang for a fun adventure!!!!

Jul. 1, 2008 at 10:23 PM They sure look happy there, don't they?  Looks like a fun day but I hope they can get them back to open water before the 4th!  I would hate to see them in distress or harmed with all the tourists or boats or fireworks. =(  Beautiful beautiful creatures....

Jul. 2, 2008 at 10:02 AM awww Im glad you got to see them.  When we went to VA Beach last year, that was our big thing in the morning was to run out to the beach and watch the dolphins pass by LOL  They sure are beautiful!  Great photos gf.
