1st of all I know that I cannot take any of the responses here to be true and concrete for the answer of my question but I need all the info and opinions that I can get at this point so anything you can offer is much appreciated and thanx in advance for all your help

I am trying to find out how to buy property for back taxes the legal way and all the things I need to be careful for and aware of. Dh and I desparately need to find a home with an extra bedroom for our god daughter and we've seemingly stumbled across a home that taxes are owed against. I've checked with the Assessor, Treasurer and Recorders offices to find out how much is owed and as much about the property as much info as they have available to them. I asked about buying for back taxes but they didn't know anything they could tell me.

Please help me as much as possible, it means a bedroom and a bed for my god daughter instead of sleeping on the couch and having all her stuff in walmart sacks in the living room

First of all I will apologize for perceived insults . But I find this morally offensive . A family works for 30 years to buy a house the property appraisers say the house is worth $16.000,oo . and you pay $265.oo a year in taxes just for the right to say you own this little piece of land. then you finally pay it off and they come along and decide your house is now worth $65.000.oo  ( the only changes or improvements being a $65, bucket of paint ) and your taxes are now  $945.00 .  People cant afford the unexpected change in taxes and they cant afford to come up with that amount immediately with the cost of living going up like it is. So instead of trying to work with the tax payers to make smaller payments in installments what do they do TAKE YOUR DAMN HOUSE away. And people are going Wow I can buy this house for just the taxes. not thinking about the family that will have to move and start all over .
