I used to go to Maine every year when I was young from the time I was 7 till I was 14. I have so many childhood memories of my trips to Bangor and Bar Harbour. My mom, my nanny and my sister ( then my sister born in 1981) drove there every year and stayed in the Koala Inn in Bangor ( now the Days Inn). There was a restaurant right beside it ( it's still there) called the Ground Round- what great food! It is right by the airport and the planes were so low going over the hotel-I was always so excited. I loved swimming in the pool- what fun we had. I am sitting here smiling as I type just thinking about those times. We loved to go shopping at the Bangor Mall and though I don't know remember the name of the store, I got my ears pierced in a jewelry store in the Bangor Mall when I was 7- and was I proud of myself. I got gold studs and thought I was so cool-lol. We also made many trips to Bar Harbour and stayed at the Bar Harbour Motel- another beautiful place. We had a lot of fun there too. Another great pool also-lol- had lots of swims in that pool let me tell ya. I can remember getting a nice white blouse at a place called Benjamin Franklin's- it was so nice and I loved it so much. I always loved getting little samples of deodorant, soap, cologne- I started young-lol- I am a girly girl! Maine reminds me a lot of where I live ( Nova Scotia)- very picturesque . My mom and my kids and I went to Calais and stayed there for a night- went to a store called Marden's- omg the deals. I could live in that store! We stayed at the Calais Motel and realized just how close we were to bangor( about an hour)- had been so long we couldn't remember- we hadn't been to the states since 1984! We said " woo hoo" and drove to Bangor. Omg the memories- and one of the places I loved the most was the grocery store-lol. There are a lot of brands sold in the states that we don't get here in Canada- it sucks but that's just the way it is. Sierra Mist is so good ( pop) and they don't sell it here- boo hoo-lol. I wish they did- I bought a bunch. Darryl and I were living together over here in Halifax at the time and he went away to PEI to see his dad while I went- we were gone for 4 days. It was awesome- we went to the dollar tree- wow what a store, family dollar store, etc. and Wal-mart- the american wal-mart is awesome. We stayed at the Days Inn in Bangor that we used to stay at ( the old Koala Inn)- wow what memories. I swear I can almost smell the chlorine in the pool. The kids loved it there- and we had supper at the Ground Round- it was old memories time and I was lovin' it. It has been 3 years this august since I went and I would love to go back but due to the gas prices god knows when I will get back- but I will. I have a best friend/cafemom sis who lives in Maine named Danielle ( mainezlilmama2)- she is so special to me and I intend to meet her someday. I would also love to meet my sis Alyssa who lives in Georgia. There are a lot of women who I would love to meet on here but Danielle is the closest. All in good time. I do have another good reason why I want to go to maine-lol. It is the dream of my life to go to the Christmas Tree Shoppe-lol. I have e-flyers sent to my e-mail so I can drool over what they sell. I told Darryl when we get married someday I want to have our honeymoon in Maine and get a hotel in Maine as close as possible to the Christmas Tree Shoppe-lol- preferably across the street or next door-lmao- I don't want much! The USA is very near and dear to my heart so I hope all my beautiful and special Cafemom sisters have a safe, fun and wonderful 4th of July with their families! God Bless you all-Love Kim xoxoxoxo

Great memories! My youngest daughter and I drove across the country, coast to coast in 2005. We stopped at the Grand Canyon and leaving there we found a park that I'd been to as a kid! it was really fun! We also drove all around California visiting family and places that I hadn't been to in years.
You have a wonderful day, too and thanks for the well wishes!
