These are the goals I strive to meet while homeschooling.
Just wanted to share.
- Challenge my children to reach their potential
- Promote academic rigor through personal responsibility
- Develop and maintain my children's interest in education by including them in educational decisions
- Improve creativity and problem-solving abilities by never handing my children answers on a silver platter
- Broaden my children's experiences by introducing them appropriately to the real world without a sugar-coating
- Create a positive atmosphere for learning and growing through kind praise and recognition of genuine effort regardless of the outcome
- Avoid frustrated confusion by providing an appropriate pace even when it means taking one step back
- Promote citizenship and teamwork by participation in local, state, even national competition- academia as well as sport
- Associate with families with children of similar abilities and interests
- Create and foster a focus on goal-setting and college/career expectations throughout home education
- Encourage active participation in all learning experiences to generate a lasting residue through self-assuring memories
- Teach my children the value of thrift, the necessity of generosity, and the importance of conservative behavior

A Boy with Autonomic Dysfunction - The Miller Family
Our Special Life
Oliver was born after having suffered a stroke while in his mother's womb. The resulting brain injury is called Dysautonomia (Autonomic Dysfunction). His doctors believe the stroke was the result of the miscarriage of his twin. Oliver is completely blind and his underdeveloped brain stem makes basic physical functions a challenge. In spite of all this, he is a happy, go-lucky, 12-year-old boy, and his mom wants people to meet the real Oliver, not just his medical hardships.
