Quentin was born 5/30 But it was an emergency c-section because we were having a hard time with his heart beat.....he had a heart defeat and had to have open heart surgery.  We thought he was not going to make it! He went to CHOC. He had only a 20% chance of living.....They didnt think he would even make it tell the transport team from Choc to get there. He had what they call Transposition of the Great Arteries (TGA). Which is Normally, the pulmonary artery carries venous (bluish) blood from the right ventricle to the lungs to get oxygen. Then the aorta carries the oxygen-rich (red) blood from the left ventricle to the body. In transposition of the great arteries, the vessels are reversed. The aorta is connected to the right ventricle so that venous (bluish) blood is carried to the body. The pulmonary artery is attached to the left ventricle so that oxygen-rich (red) blood is carried back to the lungs.

So at 5 day old he had open heart surgery it was very hard for us to go thought. On top of all this my husband had to work everyday...plus we had to move because there was black mold in our home and the landlord would not fix it! So when he was discharged from the hospital we didn't have a place to go for awhile. So we had to stay at the Ronald McDonaid house that had been staying at when i got out of the hospital. There is so much more that happen. my life was turned upside down in just mins. I also had to give up our dog because we could not have him with a baby that just had heart surgery. They odd thing is my grandpa is a cardiologist and helped make the heart and lung machine that he was on. He is almost a month soon and he is the love of life. I would do it all over again just to have him.

The day of his surgery......

One week later.....

I am so proud of him!!!!

14 months now....

Oh mama....WOW. Your grandpa helped create the machine that he was on---WOW! And to see that pic with all the tubes etc.....seeing pics like this is what is propelling me to decline my paralegal degree and go into nursing...I want to help babies (and parents) going through this. I am SO VERY HAPPY how he is doing today---I LOVE the pic of him and daddy!!! YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYY

P.S.--my very best friend had heart surgery at 3 days old for a congenital defect---and she is healthy as an ox now! As will Quentin be!!!
