Never heard this saying before?

WELL you have now!  This is the life of a diabetic lol.  Needles, pens, pumps, finger pricks and so on.  But today I was so over the moon I had to share it with everyone!

Over the last few months I have been physically making myself sick with worry over the health of my unborn bubba and myself.  Stressing about my blood sugar levels, my insulin needs and more than anything else what I've been eating.  I've now been diabetic (insulin dependent) for 5 years and counting.  It has been extremely hard.  Especially with pregnancies and cravings.  I've even been putting myself down for not eating what I should when I should - even when I knew I wasn't doing anything wrong anyway.......

I cried out of sheer happiness today when I saw my HbA1c result - It is a test that gives you a result of the measures of glucose that are attached to your haemoglobin (red blood cells) over a 2-3 month period.........

IT WAS 5.4%....The lowest I have ever had the test since I was diagnosed at 24years of age.

Sadly there may be some downfall to this situation though.... The reason why it has dropped below 6 is because I have been constantly having low blood sugars during the morning as I find it hard to control.  But because the test can show how to "lessen" (not alleviate) long term complications I am happy.

I'm just relieved that the hard work has paid off......and I didn't even aim for an a1c of this range.  (Actually I was hoping for a 6.5).  Ok ladies off with the technical talk...........

I'm so excited and the pregnancy is almost over..... yay!!!!  Two weeks to go before I meet mini me yay!
