Today I finally went onto morsbags.com and used their pattern for making cloth shopping bags. I've been wanting to do something like this so I don't use plastic bags anymore. Orion was going to help me but he decided to take pictures of me making a bag instead. I only had time today to make one bag. I showed it to my mom when I went over to her house. She wants me to make a bunch and so does my great aunt. I was thinking of making 20-30 for each household in my family. But my mom insists she only needs 6 and my aunt says that 10 would be more than enough. So I'll make them both 10.
Anyways, here's the photos Orion took. lol
I first sorted the fabric. I have a lot of unused frabric from past sewing projects. I also had bags of clothes I had been saving to make quilts out of. I decided to use them for this.

^ One of my old shirts from high school that I will probably make a bag out of eventually. yeah, I used to wear really weird clothes. lol
v Another shirt that is too small to make a shopping bag out of but I might use it to make a tote to hold the shopping bags in. Hard to believe I was ever that skinny (pre kids).

v Measuring and marking and cutting the fabric. Orion actually took a million pictures of me doing this. These are just a few though. I deleted most of them.

v Ironing the handles. There was a lot of ironing with this project.

v Sewing the bag

v Finished project!

They are actually really cute and I put a few things in it to see how much it can hold. It holds more groceries than it looks. I love it! My mom wants hers done in the same fabric though. lol I was hoping to have these ones for me. But I have a pretty blue fabric I can make some of mine out of and there is always the psychodelic shirts!
