1st of all, thank you to all of you that were concerned about us!

Well....

Hubby has some serious food allergies..... Tree nuts, shellfish, raw eggs, tree fruit... (I bet there are more, But this all I can think of right now! And yes, it is hard to cook for him! ;))

Today, my hubby was at work. He had a meeting and was just finishing up and went to the break room to catch a quick bite to eat. He works in a large food store so they have the day after bakery products that didn't sell for their employees to eat in the break room. So, hubby took a blueberry muffin out and took a bite. He has eaten them before and knew that there are no nuts in it~ but there WERE! He noticed that the blueberries were sorta crunchy and plucked apart the muffin and saw nuts! So, he got called down to the selling floor and went, hoping nothing would happen. Then he started to feel his throat closing off. He walked up to a security guard and told him what happened and the security guard took him straight to the walk in clinic up the street. They took one look at him and called the ambulance. Nut allergies can be deadly!

They took him to Hartford Hospital ER. He said they were very thorough and kept checking him and making sure he wasn't getting worse. Thankfully, he was doing ok with just some oxygen. They had put a line in, but didn't need to use it. Somehow, his body handled the nut allergy ok and he was ok with just some benadryl. They sent him home with some steroids and some benadryl and he is ok.....

He is so lucky! He is exausted and so am I.... but we feel so blessed that something worse didn't happen! We think there must've been a mistake with that package of muffins, cuz he looked at the label and there were no nuts in the ingredient list~ and he does have 2 epi pens, but his was in his car, too far away to get to in such an emergency. I am really not sure why he didn't get a shot of epinephrin at the hospital, but I don't care! As long as he is here and healthy.....

What a day!

I am so sorry to hear this!!! I am glad that it didn't turn out to be worse than it was. Now you both should rest. If I were him, I would make mention of this to the bakery mamger though. I am glad all is well.

Glad he is OK!  So do you think he'll bring his epi pen into work with him from now on?

I have to get a new one next week.
